NeuroEmotional Technique

Emotions play a large role in everyone's health. Emotions are healthy human functions and normally pose no long-lasting physiological or psychological problems. However, every illness or injury has an emotional component. Sometimes those emotions can continue to detrimental to a person's long term health long after the original affliction has resolved. A neuroemotional complex is a relationship between a negative emotion or event and a physical reaction by the body. This results in spinal nerve and/ or meridian imbalance and ill health.

We feel different emotions in different parts of our bodies in different ways. Ancient acupuncturists correlated different emotions to specific acupuncture meridians and organs. For example, fear is associated with the kidney, anger to the liver, low self-esteem to the stomach.

A person who has a neuroemotional imbalance of the stomach meridian may experience symptoms such as digestion disorders as well as a general feeling of low self-esteem.

On a structural level, an example would be a young girl who after experiencing a fight with her mother falls from a swing and injures her shoulder. The brain associates the emotion anger with the shoulder pain and sets up a circuit which may last on into adulthood. The young woman now experiences shoulder pain each time she experiences a similar situation as the fight she had with her mother as a child. She is not conscious of the connection and a statement "my shoulder hurts again and I didn't even do anything" would be common.

Another example would be a a child would get sick whenever they had a test in school. As an adult, they always gets sick when they are in a certain stressful situation at work, again due to the body associating a previous negative emotion and illness with a similar situation, which occurred years ago.

Balancing these neuroemotional complexes consists of specific, gentle spinal adjustments, nutrition and homeopathy to unlock the nerve/meridian imbalance. This does not involve psychological counseling or therapy and can be accomplished during the office visit.
